About

Ryan is a first year Juris Doctor (J.D.) candidate in the University of Western Ontario’s Faculty of Law with an expected graduation date of 2012.  As a former police officer with the York Regional Police, Ryan has embarked on an advanced legal education after a five year policing career and experiencing all sides of the legal system.  He is interested in criminal, labour/employment, litigation, corporate/contracts, and tort law.  He is an active member of the Employment and Labour Law, Mature Law Students Association, and he is the incoming President-Elect of the Criminal Law Students Association at the University of Western Ontario for the 2010 – 2011 school year.

Ryan has also completed a portion of a Master’s of Arts (MAJ) in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario.  He happily withdrew from the program after obtaining acceptance from numerous law schools in the 2009 application cycle.  In 2001, Ryan also graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Sociology, he was awarded a placement on the Dean’s List in his final year of undergraduate studies.  He has always maintained close and strong ties to the education system, and plans on pursing a Master’s of Law (LL.M.) in the future.

Ryan actively volunteers with the Special Olympics of London as a soccer and indoor soccer coach.  He has always been active in his community and has also volunteered at such organizations as: Habitat For Humanity, the London Distress Centre, Victim Services of Middlesex County, Middlesex Centre Fire Department, and the Ministry of Community and Correctional Services.  Ryan was also actively involved on Student’s Council and as an elected representative and Assistant Editor of The Social News.

Ryan is an avid professional scuba diver and underwater photographer.  He has visited St. Lucia, Grand Cayman, Aruba, and Mexico/Cozumel on underwater photography trips.  He also competitively shows and trains his two Belgian Malinois (Shepherd) dogs ( Indi and Blade) in Conformation, Obedience, Rally Obedience, Schutzhund, and French Ring sports.

Ryan and his family continue to be active members within their community, and he plans on pursing a career in London once he is done his schooling.
